Well, just yesterday, I cleaned out my closet. I went through unwanted boxes, bins, text books that I've had for years. Or to narrow it down.. I went through a whole bunch of junk!! And afterwards I felt on top of the world, lol.
I wanted to do a post on "How to clean out your closet" because everyone goes through this at least a couple times a year, and sometimes people can get overwhelmed and don't know where to begin!
So here's some ideas :)
- If you see something that you haven't used or thought of using, an item such as, old text books, broken souvenirs, any clothing pieces that you haven't worn in over a year, and had forgotten that you even had them, then throw it out!!!!! Because, if you don't throw out those unwanted items, then chances are, you still won't ever use them! :)
- If you're cleaning out your clothing such as, shirts, skirts, dresses (etc) then may I suggest that you try on any clothes that you're iffy about! :) Maybe that "shirt" is just a little bit too tight or too loose, or maybe that "skirt" has a big hole in it? That should help you make the decision a little bit better!
- What really helps me is to color-coordinate clothing, like put all the blue shirts together, the blacks, the pink together (etc). You get the idea!
- Not only color-coordinating will help, but to separate your clothing like, your bottoms go on one side and your shirts go on another side.
- This tip kind-of goes back to #2. If something is too small, or has a stain, or is out-dated, then give it to Goodwill or maybe give them to a friend. :)
- If you ever buy 5 items(clothing, shoes),then get rid of 5 items (clothing, shoes) that you already have in your closet.
- If you're a little hesitant to donate, or get rid of an item from your closet then, keep a bag of those items in your closet and if you never thought of or touched them for 3 months, then throw them out! Because now you know, that those items will still be of no use to you.
- Try to split up your clothing seasonally!! Ex: If it's summer, only have your summer clothes out. If it's fall, only have your fall clothes in your closet. And so on!
- Aim to see the back of your closet, it's a joy!! :)
- Try matching your hangers, it keeps your closet looking uniform.
As always, I hope this helps!!!
And, happy cleaning!! :)
